What I Learned From the Movies - Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 hit the box office will a supersonic boom. Proving that Stan Lee’s comic book Super Hero, turned movie blockbuster, are alive and well. The latest installment of the Iron Man, the cast consist of Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Jon Faverau as cast member/director once again. The film took the number spot on its opening weekend despite its controversial move in switching the role of john stark’s best friend Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes from Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle.

When the news was first release, I had my reservations on the recasting. I was looking forward to Mr. Howard adding Superhero to his impressive list of portrayed characters. Nonetheless, the Iron Man franchise made a good move with casting Mr. Cheadle in the part. Then again, who doesn’t like seeing Don Cheadle weave his thespian magic on a film. Overall, he did great in the sidekick role. Hopefully, in the next Iron Man saga, we will see his character more developed and a love interest.

Then, there is the official introduction of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury(informally at the end of the first Iron Man credits). It was exciting to see them go against type cast for this role. With the teaser at the end of Iron Man 2 credits, we will be seeing a lot more of Mr. Jackson in the near future in the Marvel Comics/Movies.

What I learned from watching Iron Man 2 this week:

1. Even super men (and women) fear their own morality
2. Even in a fight scene, it is amazing how women can multitask.
3. Just because your father never tells you he loves you, does not mean he doesn’t
4. Everyone needs a sidekick every now and then
5. Some sons are destined to finish the works and unfulfilled dreams of their fathers
6. Vengeance will always lead to catastrophe
7. There is never a right time to tell the ones you love that you are dying
8. Too much money is made of weapons and war for true peace to exist for very long
9. There will be people who do not like you just because your family
10. Stan Lee has a thing for red-headed chicks

Remember, a film has gone its job if it entertains and enlightens.
